In practice for over 6 years, Dr.India Maxwell-Barkley received her Doctorate of Acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. She is a practicing Acupuncturist licensed in NYS, Reiki Practitioner and Master Teacher, professor of Acupuncture, Oriental Sciences & a physical arts instructor at New York College of Health Professions for the Graduate School of Oriental Medicine. Dr. India is a highly skilled and intuitive practitioner of the healing arts who channels with the intent to purify and awaken healing potentials within.
In the heart of Manhattan, New York (Bryant Park & Flat Iron), Dr. India practices Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and provides integrative medicine to all of her patients. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New York College of Health Professions (NYCHP). The four-year curriculum at NYCHP consists of over 2800 hours of training in acupuncture, herbal medicine, practical clinical experience, energetic exercise, and adjunct therapies. These therapies include Tui Na, (Chinese massage), Eastern nutrition, moxibustion, cupping, electric stimulation, Gua Sha, and auriculotherapy. Dr. India has also received her Clean Needle Technique certification from the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Commission, (CAAOM).
She is a Reiki Master/Teacher Practitioner in the Usui System of Natural Healing and has completed dedicated hours as an energy reader/healer to the Crystal Reflections Healer’s program. She has extensive clinical and therapeutic experience, and her recent fieldwork includes volunteering and mentoring at the Reciprocity Foundation which has recently launched the first-ever Holistic Center for Homeless Youth in New York City.
Dr. India has created a presence for TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and other alternative modalities via workshops, seminars and fairs. She has worked with many patients and has successfully treated a variety of ailments, ranging from physical imbalances to more emotional and psychosomatic ailments such as anxiety and depression. She is particularly dedicated to improving the lives of women by helping them achieve greater awareness of their own healing potential, as well as creating a more nurturing lifestyle. In doing so, her philosophy is intended to educate her patients on a variety of alternative healing practices.
